I am working on an Infocus projector P720. The ballast PCB had an open 1A glass fuse with legs attached to the board. I replaced the fuse and the Lamp. The unit functions fine but seems to be running hot and also has strange smell. It doesn't smell like electrical burning. I was wondering if it could be a normal smell coming from the new lamp or a fault with the Ballast? Haven;t work on one of these brands before and am not too familiar with Data projectors in general.

From my experience, a fuse does not just blow, even if the lamp was faulty. Would be wise to replace whole ballast unit. But check to see if the leads coming from the ballast to the lamp assy are secure, but if in doubt, replace the ballast.
