Successfully repaired quite a few of these recently displaying the ylod symptom (yellow light, wont boot), so I thought id share my experience in case anyone else gets one in, considering it seems to be quite a major problem.

It's basically just the process of removing all the heats sinc compound (using Isopropyl alcohol) on the RSX chip, then heating the chip with a temperature controlled heat gun to around 150 degrees for 15-20 seconds to allow the solder balls under the chip to re-flow. make sure you set the fan speed of the heat gun to low, and remember to replace the heat sinc compound when youre done.

I'm no expert on game consoles and some one may know a better way, but this has been working for me recently

ash

Hello everybody, does anyone out there know where i can get a Video board to suit a Sega Rally Championship arcade game, 1994/1995, model 2 i believe. It's a big board, bottom of a chain of 5 boards, stacked. Proved it by swapping with the working one next to it.
Thanks, Canno.

Hi all.
PS3 console which won't play anything - not games, not CD's, DVD's or Blu-RAY's

Unit in bits, you can insert a disc, which loads correctly, you can see the red-laser light coming from under the disc, but the disc never attempts to spin.

Spindle motor fault?

I have been reading on the net, that these units seem prone to disc-drive failures...

Am looking for a replacement drive, but not sure where they can be had from as they might be Sony-specific and as such, proprietary.

Anyone else seen this fault with PS3 consoles?

Guy brought to me to fix- never seen 1 before- young guys had owned several years, became tired of it, gave to client. You may imagine the state of wiring etc- wires twisted together-oxidised- some cut off-any way I found a download from Capcom as to how should be connected- did so using fresh wiring- fired up straight away, game plays itself- no control from user 1 or 2- @ 1.2 min-"game over- insert coin"- away again- have checked all facets of this circuit -all rewired r/p incl switches- can only think fault in game circuits- can't get wiring circuits or game circuits!. My feeling is why bother!. 1986 vintage!- Long gone!. Like early 1986 computers!- remember them?- a disaster!.
