It's basically just the process of removing all the heats sinc compound (using Isopropyl alcohol) on the RSX chip, then heating the chip with a temperature controlled heat gun to around 150 degrees for 15-20 seconds to allow the solder balls under the chip to re-flow. make sure you set the fan speed of the heat gun to low, and remember to replace the heat sinc compound when youre done.

I'm no expert on game consoles and some one may know a better way, but this has been working for me recently

Unit in bits, you can insert a disc, which loads correctly, you can see the red-laser light coming from under the disc, but the disc never attempts to spin.

Spindle motor fault?

I have been reading on the net, that these units seem prone to disc-drive failures...

Am looking for a replacement drive, but not sure where they can be had from as they might be Sony-specific and as such, proprietary.
